How We Install Garage Floor Coatings Right

Surface preparation makes or breaks an epoxy installation. Skip steps here and your coating will fail. We follow a proven process that ensures proper adhesion and long-lasting results.

Day 1: Surface Preparation

We start by grinding the entire concrete surface with diamond grinders. This removes any existing sealers, oils, and weak concrete. It also opens the concrete pores so the epoxy bonds properly. Next, we fill any cracks or holes with epoxy filler. We vacuum everything thoroughly and check that the concrete is completely dry. Moisture is the enemy of epoxy.

This prep work takes most of the first day. It is tedious and dusty, but absolutely critical. DIY kits fail because people skip proper surface prep. We never cut corners on this step.

Day 2: Base Coat Application

We apply a primer coat that penetrates deep into the concrete. Once that cures, we mix the colored epoxy base coat. We roll it on thick and even, typically 10 to 15 mils. Day 3: Topcoat and Finishing

For high-traffic garages, we do two topcoats. The floor is ready for light foot traffic in 24 hours and vehicle traffic in 3 to 5 days.
