Professional garage floor epoxy coating in Westfield

Why Your Garage Floor Deserves Better

Your garage takes a beating. Oil drips from your car. Salt and snow get tracked in all winter. Heavy tools and equipment get dragged across the floor. Over time, plain concrete cracks, stains, and starts to dust. You end up with a floor that looks terrible and is impossible to clean.

We install epoxy and polyurethane coatings for homeowners throughout Westfield and nearby communities. These professional coatings completely change how your garage looks and functions. A coated floor resists oil, chemicals, salt, and tire marks. It cleans with just soap and water. It brightens your garage by reflecting more light. Most importantly, it protects your concrete from damage.

Many people try DIY epoxy kits from home improvement stores. These thin coatings peel and yellow within a year or two. Professional systems use thicker coatings and proper surface preparation. Our installations last 10 to 20 years with normal use. You get a garage floor that performs like a showroom and adds value to your home.

Coating Systems That Fit Your Needs

Not all garage floor coatings are the same. We offer several systems with different performance levels and price points. Most homeowners choose solid color epoxy with flakes because it offers the best balance of durability, appearance, and cost. The color flakes hide dirt and add grip.

Solid Color Epoxy

This is our most popular system. We apply a thick epoxy base coat in the color of your choice, then broadcast decorative color flakes across the surface while it is still wet. You can choose light, medium, or full flake coverage depending on your style preference. A clear topcoat seals everything and provides the final glossy finish. This system is durable, attractive, and reasonably priced.

Metallic Epoxy

For a high-end look, metallic epoxy creates stunning 3D effects that look like marble or flowing liquid. We apply special metallic pigments that swirl and blend as the epoxy cures. Every floor is unique. This finish costs more but delivers a wow factor that standard coatings cannot match. It works great for garages that double as workshops or hobby spaces where aesthetics matter.

Polyaspartic Topcoat

For garages that get direct sunlight, we recommend adding a polyaspartic topcoat. This ultra-durable UV-resistant finish never yellows or fades. It is harder than standard epoxy topcoats and can be applied in a wider range of temperatures. Polyaspartic also cures faster, so you can get back in your garage sooner. The added cost is worth it for maximum durability.

Additional Options

We also offer clear sealers that protect your existing concrete while keeping the natural look. Anti-slip additives add texture for traction on steep driveways or in wet conditions. Some customers also upgrade their concrete driveways at the same time for a cohesive look from street to garage.

How We Install Garage Floor Coatings Right

Surface preparation makes or breaks an epoxy installation. Skip steps here and your coating will fail. We follow a proven process that ensures proper adhesion and long-lasting results.

Day 1: Surface Preparation

We start by grinding the entire concrete surface with diamond grinders. This removes any existing sealers, oils, and weak concrete. It also opens the concrete pores so the epoxy bonds properly. Next, we fill any cracks or holes with epoxy filler. We vacuum everything thoroughly and check that the concrete is completely dry. Moisture is the enemy of epoxy.

This prep work takes most of the first day. It is tedious and dusty, but absolutely critical. DIY kits fail because people skip proper surface prep. We never cut corners on this step.

Day 2: Base Coat Application

We apply a primer coat that penetrates deep into the concrete. Once that cures, we mix the colored epoxy base coat. We roll it on thick and even, typically 10 to 15 mils. While the epoxy is still wet, we broadcast decorative color flakes across the surface. The flakes embed in the epoxy and provide texture and visual interest.

Day 3: Topcoat and Finishing

After the base coat cures, we scrape off any loose flakes and vacuum again. Then we apply the clear topcoat that seals everything and provides the final glossy finish. For high-traffic garages, we do two topcoats. The floor is ready for light foot traffic in 24 hours and vehicle traffic in 3 to 5 days.

Most garage floors take 2 to 3 days from start to finish. Weather affects curing time, so we schedule installations during favorable conditions. Just like our concrete repair work, proper surface prep and quality materials make all the difference in how long your investment lasts.
